Community Service

There are many ways to live out Witness, Mercy, & Life Together at ULu!

Serving in leadership, House Fellows, choir, Musica Sacra Ensemble (instrumentalist playing together or as soloists), or as a greeter/usher are just a few ways you can get started! In addition, there are various opportunities throughout the year to serve our community, whether it be through our annual meal-packing event or by serving as a mentor for Foundational Friendships. Click below to learn more about some of these opportunities.

House Fellows

Being a House Fellow is a way to enjoy being in the thick of things at ULu while serving as live-in hosts of the Student Center (the house that's attached to the church) and caretakers of our beautiful facility. Each Fellow enjoys off-street parking, a room with a bed, desk, and dresser, a fully-equipped kitchen, and free wifi. Fellows pay only a utility fee each semester of $460. The guidelines and application may be taken from the notebook on the table in the narthex, or by requesting one via email at indianalutheran@gmail.com . Applications for next year are due by mid-November.

Foundational Friendships

Foundational Friendships is a mentoring program for serving young students at Bachelor Middle School in Bloomington! You can make a difference in a middle school student's life by meeting with a small group during Friday lunch time at the school. The purpose is to create foundational values (empathy, respect, perseverance, service, integrity) that help them meet the challenges of accomplishing their dreams.

Hoosiers Against Hunger

At this annual spring event, we package over 10,000 meals which are then distributed to children in our local community. Over 35% of children in Monroe County suffer from food insecurity and with just a few hours of time, you can help create a meal to help a child in need! Click here to learn more.
